Hi, Andy here reporting on the latest garden visit for BLF. For some reason, the visit was scheduled for afternoon, not morning. So, at 3.30 pm we arrived at a place called McDowall Manor.
I have to say, the visit started badly, when we couldn't find the host! However, under instruction from the two Elaines, we decided just to help ourselves.
They did have a nice set up for their grapes and loganberry between a beautifully hand built bench seat. I think the bloke must be a carpenter or builder.
I was also impressed with the hand built wicking bed and aquaponics set up. Amazing display of carpentry skills.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the yard, the plants also seem to be going quite well, The pumpkin and tomatoes are about to bear. Don't think much of his snow peas though. They were doing very poorly.
There was some nice artistic elements, almost like the absent host had been operating under instructions. His birds were wandering around the place and rather annoyingly kept trying to get on my shoulder. He's going to need to tame those wild chickens!
Despite the fact that our ignorant host never actually appearing, we did have fun and the food was good. I subsequently learned, our host had been asleep under the water tanks and missed the entire visit. What a git.
(Disclaimer: this visit may or may be a matter of actual fact.)
