Growing local

After the Rescue, came the Rescued, Now the Restored 1. Well not fully restored, that is a few months off but here are some photos of how things are progressing.

I have been planting quite a few Vegetables and Fruit Trees, as well as my usual supply of Herbs, Companion and Beneficial Insect Plants. The Blueberry Patch is coming along beautifully, with it's row of Alpine Strawberries. I am not the photo taker of the family. I took quite a few but these are the best of the ones I did take.

Christa, the Lilies are actually Hippies, very unusual to get light coloured striped leaves.

Beautiful pink lily with a stripe in the leaves.  White roses always make things look greener to me. Things are starting to fill in well.  I notice that Daleys have got their bare root plants for sale now with 1/2 price delivery.   Watch the pumpkin vine doesn't take over. You could always put it on a complete bed frame (without the mattress ha!), and keep it off the ground.  Another option is to cut most of the big leaf off and leave a little circle of green around the stem standing.  That way you still get some light to the plants around it.

Thanks Sophie, I always think that if Roses are happy the rest of the garden will be. Much like when they grow Roses at the ends of the Grapes in a Vineyard.

love the roses in amongst your edible garden. Was in SA recently and lamenting their chill crops & abundance of roses! :)
