Hi there,
When is a good time to place netting over my nectarine tree to stop those pesky fruit flies from destroying the fruit.

Usually after pretty dark pink flowers have pollinated. We cover ours when the fruit is about the size of a pea. There are quit a few more flowers this year.
I find it's a bit of a lottery, to allow enough time for the flowers to get pollinated, but before the fruit is of a size where fruit fly is a danger. I put my net over my tropical peach this afternoon - a goodly number of fruit have appeared, and the bees have been really busy the last few days, so I'm confident of a good harvest. The China Flat, on the other hand, only has flowers so far, so no net on that one yet.
