Phil's question re how long from flower to fruit made me realise I had paid little attention to this in the past.
This will be a pictorial day to day following of flower to fruit. I've chosen the flower that bloomed just outside my front door as it's easiest to remember to photograph each day. Hopefully it's pollinated lol!
29.12.15 Day one - flower
31.12.15 Day three - the fruiting part of the plant is partly obscured by some branch (do we call it a branch of DF??). I'll have to wade into the mess of bamboo and cut things back so I can get a better view as it grows.
What a job to get at it! Tried the long handled secateurs but in the end had to wade through the bamboo with my leather beekeeping gloves on for protection. But worth it....one of the biggest I have grown. And there are plenty more flowers developing.
Can't find the original comment to quote exactly but Pat Pierce up in Rockhampton let's the fruit mature for five days before picking for maximum sweetness.
