Growing local

Finally, getting my seed raising right. That is, the best approach I have ever had.
Position. Management. Watering. Rig.
These x40 cell trays rest on a bed of perlite.
I'm also using el cheapo 'seed raising mix' -- Brunnings -- which I can get locally.
Today most of these plants enter the soil at my feet....and for each and every one of them, this is the first day of the rest of their photosynthetic lives.

"We hears ya , Dave! We'll do our bestest we can before you eat us! "

PS: Hypothetically it's the wrong time for Millet (but don't tell the seedlings that.)

Our ground is getting pretty darn sodden now. I feel we have had enough rain here at the moment for a little while, luckily all of our Seedlings are covered. Will you be covering yours Dave or anyone else out there growing Seedlings if so how do you do it, pictures of your set up would be great.

A bit later than expected... but Jeez it's getting damp here.

It looks like the offshore weather is crossing the coast. As if it isn't wet enough!

I'm not prone to flooding -- but I'm hoping seeds or seedlings don't start to rot. Getting out there to intervene is a challenge.

Of course, we've been seeing fungi that may not have fruited for years -- now more of what's there may come a'calling.

Soak. Soak. Soak.

As for the grass or the weeds! It's loverly weather.

Looking Wonderful, It pays to be on your toes at the right time planting out seeds and it looks like you are having a good success rate at the moment.

I planted Tomatoes last week and already they have their 2nd Seed Leaves, fingers crossed they with survive & produce during Autumn & Winter.

Here is an interesting video putting seed trays in a hot humid old freezer  using a crock pot for heat and germinate in under 4 days.

We STARTED our PEPPERS in 4 DAYS!
