Growing local

Paul came over today and we checked on the health of my 4wk old top bar hive. All is going well. They've Queened up (she's beautiful but shy) and are producing eggs, plus plenty of honey. Some comb was sticking out and needed to be removed so I got to try my first honey! Intensely delicious.

How cool is that I envy you and your hive. :-)

I'm sure you'll have your own hive down the track Andy.

Be prepared to be stung though. Three times for me since I bought the hive. One got me through my glove yesterday, one got caught in my hair the day they moved in and one came in on the back of my shirt yesterday arvo and showed her disapproval when I tried to sit back in my chair. My finger is quite swollen this morning despite the sting causing minimal trouble yesterday.

I'm very jealous.
