Birds are eating the fruit on my small fruiting mulberry in the back yard (grown from Elaine's cuttings) but not touching my big fruiting mulberry down the side of the house...thankfully, as these are for ME.
Hmmm. I was going on some nursery people down south who pruned after each fruiting and reckon they have several flushes per year. Down south Melbourne really I believe, just don't know how important the climate is. Whatever you are doing is working!
The netting keeps out the birds, fruit bats, and possums, so I can leave the fruit ripen fully. I've used the net for about 5 years now, so it's easily paid for itself. I would not have the large harvest if I had pruned the branches.
