Growing local

Just like assembling Lego you can do so much with milkcrates. Concentration like this -- in one spot -- makes maintenance and harvest selection easier. Facing due north too.
My row of mikcrates were simply refigured. Bird bath in the middle for avian effect.

[FYI: I use a cladding of weed mat.Perfect drainage. In the middle of each crate I insert an unglazed terracotta clay wine cooler which I cover with a shade cloth piece.]

My primary herbs growing there are Chives (Garlic and Onion), Oregano, Thyme, Epazote, Rosemary, Curry Leaf...and this time of year some Cilantro. I have another patch elsewhere with lemongrass and Pandan. Both sides up high are patches of Wild Rocket.

GrowVetiver

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion.  It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)

GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
