I have a gate at the bottom end (closest) so I can dig the compost out and put it straight into a wheel barrow.

They also have shade under their house.

That looks fantastic! Our chicken house is in the shade so not sure what I'll be able to get to grow over it... will think about it and give it a try next year (only just got the chickens and had the run built).
