  • Great. Go forth and multiply it throughout Straddie!

Unfortunately our shoreline experiments here -- facing into the weather -- were gutted by the brutal King Tides and High Winds we had. The shoreline peoples have mainly switched to laying down rock walls.

Our plantings were not high enough above the Storm Tide mark. Of the 3 days of weather, they lasted two before the final surge took them away and on average about 2 metres from the coastal embankment in property after property despite rock walls! The waves hollowed out fill from behind these walls. So the rocky slopes did not work.

Truly amazing. No wonder Bribie got cut in two.

Tragically too we are out of stock -- STILL! -- while we expand the plantation/nursery. I have so many folk demanding Vetiver I can't supply. So you are lucky, Janey.

Good Morning Janey, Welcome to Brisbane Local Foods (BLF), I'm sure you will find much info on our site to help with Gardening in Sandy soil, it is surprising just what our members have done to improve their soil, if you have any questions please ask, we are a very friendly bunch here.

Here at the top of the page, you will find many GROUPS to join. One of these is the GARDEN VISITS,  2021 GARDEN VISITS CALENDAR I am sure you would enjoy visiting our member’s gardens. We have members who grow many kinds of Gardens, Permaculture, Aquaculture, Wicking Beds, Traditional and many more. The GV's are usually held once a month. At the GV's we share cuttings, plants, produce, seeds, knowledge as well as a good chat and a lovely Homemade Morning Teas.

We have many subjects of interest, if you have any questions, I am sure we would have a member or site available to answer that question. If you feel you are particularly adept in a field, you may like to add a new Group to our List or perhaps do a talk or demonstration at one of our GV. If a yes for the GV you might like to friend me, and we can see what we can do. We are always looking for new ideas.

You may like to go into your page and change the Pea Leaf Avatar for one of your own, it makes it a little more personal and as soon as we see your own Avatar we know who it is. Please enjoy BLF…..

  • Yes Sir. I am here. I just stepped out to check out then moon. What have I done now?

  • Welcome to the site Janey.  It so happens that we have a fellow "sand converter" at Beachmere. Hopefully, Dave will spot his name has been mentioned tonight.
