I have been investing in these 'plantations' over the last few months and they've finally delivered.
I'd like to thank all those TVNI folks who helped me out with advice for this project in my community.
Now that the drought is over the grasses we have planted have finally consolidated in place. With the rain the clumps have transcended the impact of salt ingress and wind.
We could still get hit by a cyclone or a Tropical Low which can take it all away, but for now there is growth and keen rooting.
Our latest site, a sand dune, is proving much more challenging.
If this works I'm sure we can get Vetiver adopted much more along the beachfront and in other communities along the shores of Moreton Bay.
But if Vetiver can survive here it's fit to go almost anywhere.
I'll be running a local workshop soon if anyone is interested in a quick heads up.
Free and on the beach.
Unfortunately the rush for stock has cleared us out and there is now a waiting list for plants.
