What do beekeepers, oregano farmers, and a poetic seed saver from Canada have in common? They’re just some of the amazing people profiled in the top 10 winning films of the first Real Food Media Contest.
We launched the Contest last year on the heels of our success with our Food MythBusters movies, to create a platform for creative new voices to share the untold stories of our food system: the good, the bad, and the exquisite.

We reached out to hundreds of food changemakers, filmmakers, and film and sustainability students from around the country to encourage them to tell their stories.

And we were blown away with the results: 156 films from all over the world came pouring in. We received films that reflect the true diversity of the food movement and were inspired by the stories.
After an arduous task of selecting the finalists, we're thrilled to announce the official selections and share them with you! This project is based in connecting stories, strategies and solutions on-the-ground in real communities, and that’s where you come in:

Online voting just opened today, so watch the top 10 finalists now – we’re counting on you to help us select the People’s Choice!
From the streets of the South Bronx to rural North Carolina, the filmmakers turn their lens to food, in all its beauty and complexity.

We hope you’ll enjoy them -- check out the top 10 films and cast your vote before March 2.

We can’t wait to hear what you think! Weigh in on our contest page on Facebook and join the conversation via #realfoodcontest on Twitter.

P.S. You can also host a screening party, potluck or brownbag lunch to watch the Top 10 with friends and colleagues and vote together on your favorites. Downloadable resources for invites and discussion guides are at the ready. Enjoy!

Food MythBusters provides animated videos, live action short documentaries, online resources, and more to help spread the real story about what we eat and inspire, educate, and grow the movement for sustainable food and farming.
