I am part of a new community garden in Fitzgibbon and look after the composting and worm farming.
We expect the gardens to be ready sometime in June/July and would like to start our composting bin, and are looking around for hopefully free Horse/Sheep/Chook Manure. Can anyone point me into the right direction?
We are located in North Brisbane near Carseldine.
I look forward to learning from all of you here too!
Where is the garden located at Fitzgibbon please Matt?
Hi Lissa, it's located along Mt Kaputar Ave, cnr of Windjanna Cr... but it's not ready yet...
Let us know when it's open for visitors Matt :)
Neither of those street names come up on a search of Google maps or Whereis. Any suggestions?
Must be that big un-named area on the left of the map then :)
I have a client very nearby and she wanted to go for a walk, so we drove up the road and found the area where the garden will be. Like a maze in there, took some finding, and builders trucks all over the place.
You have all the fun work of establishing ahead of you Matt :) Do you live there? There doesnt' seem to be many occupied homes.
Not free, but I get cheap horse manure from a seller on Scarborough Road in Redcliffe. $2 per big bag. Just curious though.. why are you using manure in your compost bins? I never thought of doing that, does it help speed up the compost in your bins perhaps?
Thanks! We were directed into this direction by the lovely recycling girl from Brisbane City Council when we attended her workshop on composting... I think it helps add bulk...
