You Can Cook in Your Dishwasher ... if You Dare

Written by Julie Ryan Evans on CafeMom’s blog, The Stir.
When it comes to cooking in today’s world, there are options galore. From microwaves to convection ovens, slow cookers to toaster ovens, we have a plethora of appliances to easily prepare the foods we eat and serve our families. There’s one appliance that often gets overlooked, however, when it comes to food preparation — your dishwasher.
Yes, that machine that’s generally used only to clean can actually be used to cook too. It sounds crazy, but it’s true. Most dishwashers provide plenty of heat to fully cook a wide array of foods. Why would you do this when you have all those other appliances, you may ask? The simple answer: Because you can. It’s fun, will fascinate people, and talk about easy cleanup. Here are five fantastic foods you can make in your dishwasher.

I've heard it all! First, buy yourselves a dishwasher. Mine has two legs ;-)

It can also flood your house. Friends of ours went on a boat cruise for a holiday and when they came home their dishwasher blew a hose behind the machine and flooded the house.  Fortunately the insurance helped out with the 30 thousand bill.  Two inches of water throughout the house.

We stick to 2 legged varieties just like Elaine, although I believe that they are getting more vintage every year.

There is nothing wrong with vintage.

Speaking as the Queen of Vintage, I heartily agree ;-)

Ageing disgracefully however ;-) I turn off the water supply to the washing machine so it's only connected when it's in use. That would save most of the flood risk I reckon.

Our hot water system also leaked but was on the ground so would suggest turning the water and power  off  if going away for extended period plus they would have had a big water bill.

Yes Jeff, they did, and the plaster walls, all the carpet, paint, furniture and everything on the ground got soaked.  They had to pay to stay at another place while every thing was repaired.
