My sister visited the private butterfly farm on Bribie recently and has come away with some Monarch chrysalises.

Here they are hatched out and released on milkweed.

isnt the milkweed considered a weed here {farmers try to get rid of it, when ever possible?} 

Probably. Farmers like to kill off all sorts of plants for various reasons. Doesn't mean they don't have their uses elsewhere.
