Event Description

This is a beginners workshop for those that would like to get some up-close experience with honeybees in a top bar hive. You may be interested in keeping a hive and want to gain confidence and basic knowledge or just to find out if beekeeping is for you.

We will safely explore the basic activities of beekeeping including initial setup, hive inspection and honey extraction.

Veils will be supplied (unless you have your own protective gear – please advise).

Please wear light coloured, long sleeved shirts, trousers and closed shoes, socks and gloves.

Cost is $30, $50 for couples

Same day as the next GV unfortunately. I'll attend one down the track a bit when I'm closer to owning my own bees :)

GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
