Join us in Kate's garden to learn about gardening on a budget. This 2 hour workshop will cover lots of garden basics, but importantly how to prioritise limited garden spending. Topics covered will include:
Soil preparation
plant selection
where and how to buy plants
basic design and layout of the garden
reusing and repurposing materials
basic propagation to grow your own free plants

This workshop is perfectly suited to gardening beginners, or anyone wanting to stretch their gardening dollars further. Kate's garden features many reused and re-purposed items, and cheaply sourced plants which have been used together to create a wonderful and rewarding garden with very little financial investment.
Located at 49 Arras St Yeronga

Cost is $45 and includes afternoon tea and a free plant from June's Home Grown Plants.

Kate joined BLF last year. I knew her when in another lifetime, I lived a couple of streets away and we were both in Brisbane LETS. She is well versed in the topic and a good communicator. Recommended.

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion.  It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)

GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
