A Little from Sid:-
My spiel -
Come for a Garden Visit to Sid's newly acquired dream property. It's a Sunday so make sure you take in the Caboolture Markets (https://caboolturecountrymarkets.com.au/) en route to stock up on inexpensive seedlings (tip stolen from Dave, thanks Dave!).
Sid's new home is a beautiful block in Wamuran that was previously a goat milking farm. It's just over five acres of almost completely useable land with existing gardens set up. We'll be moving in only a few days before, so the home will be in a shamble of boxes, but we'll get everything set up well enough!
Please bring an umbrella, hat or similar shade as there is a fair bit to see. There is on property and across the road parking. Please reserve the on property parking for those who would benefit from the shorter walking distance.
Our main focus will be on exploring and plant identification - there are a LOT of plants here I have little experience with and I would greatly appreciate the wisdom the group has in identifying them. The formal gardens are a short series of steps from the main house but can also be reached via a slope through the fruit trees if anyone needs that. There are many roses planted in the formal gardens and it is unlikely I will want to keep them all so if you like the look of any, or wish to take cuttings from larger plants please feel free to ask. There are also three established Fig trees in the formal garden, so if anyone wants to take a look with the aim of digging them out and taking one or two just let me know - three is more than I need!
I will be looking to convert the formal garden into a permaculture food forest so if anyone has suggestions around this I would also love any tips.
Graham & I will possibly be staying closer to Sid's the night before and others might like to think about that if they are interested.
You may like to bring a small plate of Food or Drink to share for Morning Tea & one to share for lunch, please also bring plate & knife & fork.
You may also need to bring Garden Tools and empty plastic pots of heavy duty bags, depending on just what Sid would like us to do for her.
Also any plants, produce or seed that you would like to share, swap or sell.
It is always a good idea to bring along a chair as we do sometimes have more visitors than chairs available at GV gardens.
Children welcome but must be supervised by parents at all times.
RSVP required so that the address can be sent to you closer to the date. The address will be sent closer the date. The address is always sent to your email you signed up with, if it is different you will need to change it in your profile.
Late attendees welcome. Message Dianne or phone 0407691485 on the day for the address.
