Ormiston House, in Redland City, SEQ, was founded 150 years ago in 1862 by Irish entrepreneur and botanist Louis Hope.
Hope planted and harvested the first successful commercial crop of sugar-cane in Australia and pioneered sustainable gardening and lifestyle practices.
At the media launch for the event, MC, Paul Bishop filmed this interview with Jerry Coleby Williams, and asks about Hope's visionary use of the property, as well as our future food and agriculture needs as we enter a 'climate of change'.
Ormiston House and lands are available to view for the public every Sunday.
