Chinampas
Chinampas were developed by the Incas. They are the most productive agricultural system ever invented. You need to get around in a boat to work them. The water supplies all the plants, it is stocked with fish etc.. and once a year or so you get the very fertile sludge from the bottom of the canals and put it back on the dry earth to feed the next crop. Nice to spend your day fishing, picking your food and tending your crops for a living :)
