I might do a post about exactly that Lissa.  The short answer is yes - provided YOU do it for yourself.  It's not hard, but you have to understand your own system.

Would you say Andy that the whole aquaponics thing has been worth it in retrospect?

Bit like growing your own fruit and veg I suppose, despite the apparent expense and troubles, worth it just for the experience of growing your own quality food. I just don't know too many people who seem to keep the aquaponics going long term and wondered if it's worth going in to.

I think my fish are getting mostly full sized now Elaine.  Time for fish and salad!  I wished you lived closer as well!  I've even resorted to composting it now.
