Thanks for the comments scarlett ~ The mulberry tree's new and it's just one 'whip' at the moment.. so it's new branching growth I want for more fruits next year ~ So probably should prune it now then?
Scarlett, I am pretty sure that Acacia Pet Supplies & Produce (Ph 3372 4122) have second hand food grade pickle drums for sale, although I think they were 200L from memory for $40. Depending on what you are looking for, it might be worth giving them a call to see if they have any other sizes - or even if they still carry them...
Thank you Scarlett, I will try and get to one of the gardening day's to check it out. By the way, I wanted to contact you regarding Oxley Common... I have been in touch with Marion Forrest and she mentioned your name for advice on how to further push the subject "community farm" to get it going!!! Any ideas why this project is so hard to get started ? I know it is a massive site and a farm of this scale would be a first in Brisbane City. Quite unthinkable for some people, but just imagine.... love to get to know your thoughts. Thomas
Looking fwd to TT meeting Wed night. First step before Transition Initiatives is to establish a Community Garden. Can't wait to get the ball rolling on that :)
Haven't progressed as much as I wanted to with the garden renovation as I can only work on the weekends, and there's always heps of other stuff to do on weekends. Hopefully I will make it for spring planting. Guess it's almost time for another blog ~
Hi Scarlett,
Wow! I'm through the mid semesters and on a 2 wk break, hoping to get the garden up and running a bit more in the interim, It would be lovely to catch up and give the girls a play, would you like to come over for a coffee and walk in the park? not sure how much time you have over school hols but I will have Lilli Mon - Wed next week, hope you can make it, cheers Heather
Haven't done that one yet because I am thinking of splitting it into seasons, it was originally started in late May but has a lot of other information as well - what do you think about having two or four 'What to plant in Autumn/ Winter etc'...
Or just move it as it is and then maybe I should start a new one just before spring to get everyone involved...
Hi scarlett,
I took your advice and not putting up with the sand any longer. the sand is about 30cm deep then there is a plactic tarp or somthing underneath. water still seems to drain. option 1 is to dig everything up and and mix all the soil together with the new clay soil and start again. or Option 2 just put new soil on top- raised garden bed and lots of mulch to break down the clay. what do you think?
Hi Scarlett, would you have a problem with me adding a key word - say 'info' as a tag on any photo or blog that a discussion gets started on between members - you can do a search on the tags and a lot of information here at BLF comes from posting our photos/ blogs.
thanks for your comments Scarlett, No its definately not my hat. Dunno when you would have seen me wearing one ever. Good luck with that. I can't remember how I posted the photos, they are fairly old now. Ill get snap happy and get some more on soon. My garden looks quite different now, and so does the one at work (lettuce bed one). Talk to you soon, Netty :-)
Hi Scarlett, I would be happy to be a site administrator. It has taken my ages to go through all the forums and all the blogs to see what I missed out on - really should have been in the garden myself.... ;)
Hi Scarlett, Did the photos I added a few days ago come through?? I'm not sure if they worked or not - the website sat there forever uploading them then took me to a random link.
Hi Scarlett, just a quick hello to let you know I still think about our Sunday am visit to your neck of the Holland Park woods! I can now list Trinette as a cyber friend as a result. It was a lovely morning and it certainly spurred my enthusiasm, my garden has taken a few minor leaps since and I thought I should report back, the new pecan tree is about to go in along with blueberry no.2, guava no.2, a new chilli bush, walking stick palm, turmeric and a bay tree in a pot! Jiri has even started the ol' seeds on cotton wool on the kitchen window sill. Hopefully success will prevail! Feel free to snoop over the back fence, It would be even better if you knocked on the back door for a caffeine stop! Cheers Heather
Hey Scarlett, good to see you (from a distance) the other night.
I will pass on the weblink job to Emma or Alison. I have been elevated to Food Connect gardener and have no management responsibilities anymore.
Almost out of a job, yippee.

I don't mind my blog getting a bit of air time but I don't want to be put forward as representing Samford Local Growers so that needs to be corrected.
regards
James
