It appears to me that you are a gardener and produce a lot of your own food. Do you garden in community gardens regularly?

Hi Donna
I had forgotten all of this information about CSA's on my site! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Your query is best answered through contacting Food Connect and negotiating with your closest city cousin.

Could you be the Inala city cousin - do you have a network of people interested in taking part in this box scheme? Have you seen the 15 minute video produced in Maleny about food security, Morag and Evan (?) SEED International?

Hi Donna, Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your fabulous garden and compliments to the 'Infastructure Manager' for doing such a great job. Morning tea was delicious and having Anthony to talk was so good. What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning.

Thanks for the welcome Donna. What a great sharing community this appears to be! I am working hard to coordinate this Sustainabilty Day event and hope that the Food Community embraces it as there are so many fantastic speakers organised and great market stalls with lots of prizes, great practical information, workshops etc.

Hi Donna, thanks for your help.
I will do some research on the the different tubers and roots on the list. I have a few books at home that might help. either way i will get some some potatos
1x Arrowhead
2x Comfrey
Jerusalem artichokes
New Zealand Yam
Waterchestnuts
amaranth- if you'd like to go 1/2's that would be even better. If you have Okra seeds it would be like christmas in july.

I will also go to the west end markets and talk to the potato man. he has wonderful potatos. Not sure if they are organic. I'll also talk to food connect.

I would love to be there at your garden on the 19th but unfortunetly I will be out of town. maybe i could make another time to visit? and do a swap?

all the best
Cass

Hi Donna,
I think i will take your advice on the ginger and grow what food connect gives me as well as the tumeric.
i would love some of the following if its possible
1x Arrowhead GA104 3 bulbs for $5.50
2x Comfrey
Jerusalem artichokes
GJ100 3 tubers for $6.00
New Zealand Yam
GO100 3 tubers for $6.00
Potatoes 'Salad Sensation'
A mixed pack of 3 different potatoes considered the best varieties for gourmet appeal and salads.
Pack includes 250g Pink Fir (banana-shaped tubers, light pink skin, cream waxy flesh; hugely productive); 250g Kipfler (banana-shaped tubers, yellow skin and creamy flesh) and 250g Cranberry Red (oval tubers, shiny red skin, pink flesh)
GP119 750g certified seed potatoes for $7.50
Waterchestnuts
GW100 5 corms for $6.00

Also would like some Amaranth and okra

Do you think most of these things you could grow from a bud or the actual vegetable which I could get from the farmers market. eg Jerusalem artichokes. I should check it out before you place an order. Are you putting in an order on monday?

how does this work? who can i make the process as least complicated as possible? just put money into your account?

thanks

cass

it can be grown from any small piece of rhizome that has a bud and is planted in early spring.

Hi Donna, I got the 2 litre molasses. They get them in big drums, and separate them into 2 litre milk bottles. I can bring them to your garden visit, or if you want to get them earlier, I work in the city near the central train station. I can bring it to work, and we can work out a time and meet up somewhere around there?

Donna. thk you for that :) I have been away this weekend, therefore the late reply. That's an idea, could do that sometime. Nothing spectacular in the garden over winter, except the kumquats really, but things should "grow up" a bit more unless we have unexpected frost which is uncommon here.

Will keep that in mind. When I find a bit more time, I shall post more pics of my winter garden. The fruit trees are quite established with mango trees, lychee, nectarine, peach, persimmon, pomegranate, etc. but nothing in fruit as yet. Lots of blossoms, in spring they look a lot better.

Hi Donna, I noticed on Scarett's latest blog you mentioned carrots to bring back the nutrients after the rain. Can you let me know how that works? I'm growing carrots anyway but would love to know about this magical property! Hopefully it works for clay soil too.

yay :) ok, gone.
hopefully that will make navigation a bit easier for people - the search functionality is much better on the forum

yes I know what you mean - I closed it for similar reasons. We should probably do one twice a year - for march planting and november planting maybe. Maybe move the whole thing and keep it closed (no more comments) and we can start up new ones - at least that way people will be able to find their comments if they're looking. yes?
