thank you Hung Yee for your kind comments , im not sure what i could teach anybody , but you would be welcome to come by and talk "gardens" . I 'm not sure about my next Garden Visit, i hosted the 1st one and have now just started a very extensive change of my garden , removing trees etc , so it,s not likely untill next year.
Hi Hung Yee , welcome to the site and the back yarders i hope you find it intresting and helpfull . Can i draw your attention to the seed savers & garden visits in which members swap seeds, view gardens , exchange information etc .
Re mulch, I was stingy and got straw from the produce store, and lucky one time - got stable straw from a place near here, but Chris Zane says that lucerne is the most nutritious - Annette said that on Saturday too. Lots of people use sugarcane mulch, the finer type. I'm trying to source cheap lucerne, will talk to a friend who buys for her cows!
H Y, I got fresh mushroom compost from the man who sells mushrooms at the market - he said to add dolomite to it as it is quite acid, and leave for a couple of weeks before planting. Why don't you start a discussion in "backyarders" and ask the other members if they have a source for fresh mushroom compost nearer to your place? I get mine from Lawnton, a lon way from Jindalee!
Welcome Hung Yee. Hope you find this site informative and can make it along to our monthly garden visits. We have lovely people in our group and they are happy to share their knowledge with you.
Welcome to the network! If you click on "Groups" on the menu bar, you'll see a couple of groups worth joining - "backyarders" is particularly useful!
