I've had a wonderful weekend catching up with people and talking about gardens - 2 of my favorite things. My friend has moved back from Sydney and I dragged her to the Brisbane Plant Collectors Fair where I picked up blue hippeastrum, peach ground orchid and a japanese mountain raspberry "Rubus corchorifolius".
Then today, it was Sophie's garden visit. Wonderful catching up with everyone. The fig exchange was great. I got LSU and blue providence from Dianne. I popped them in my self watering pots with some climbing geraniums, rosemary and salvia's I'd been meaning to propagate. Here they are.
I was talking to Roger and he was asking about my pomegranates. I got 4 off my tree this year, the last one I took off the tree today. They have this brown marking on the skin. The last one I left too long and it had gone through to the arils but this one was perfect. The brown rot did not touch the segments, only the skin and white pith. Had I left it any longer, I think it would have affected the segments.
First flowers are happening on my strawberries. I tried an experiment and kept some of my last years mother plants to see if I would get an earlier harvest. Looks like it was worth it as the flower spikes are happening all on the old plants.
Climbing beans and peas started. I've chucked in some mixed flower seeds to see what else will come up as I want these beds looking pretty.
Plenty of citrus at my place at the moment. Imperial mandarins and lemons a plenty.
Happy gardening folks.
