A long overdue update! The chilli seeds I got from Lissa ages ago were planted in a pot about a year ago, and I thought they had suffered the same fate as most of my "pot" plants. Over the past couple of weeks the chilli has shot out of the ground and is now bearing about 20 green fruits! The rest of my garden at the moment is limited to herbs... I've used a lot of thyme, rosemary and oregano in my cooking. I need to get some more sage, and I've also got a lot of mint and chives I'm under-using. My poor old raspberry is holding onto life and producing one or two fruits a week. Most of the leaves died off and the rest are a bit diseased. I've tried watering a bit more (I neglected this severely for a while) and have given it some seaweed solution today in the hope that it could use it.

I've also planted some more cress and mustard about two weeks ago, which is ready for eating over the next week, along with some lettuce, which is going sloooowly.

At least not everything died at my hands!

There's folk on here Daniel who have Lab Lab seeds. There's a lot of variations but they all do well in our climate. I believe you eat the seeds, not the pods. I can vouch it's a very enthusiastic climber so give it plenty of room.

I like the idea of passing seeds around, too. A friend of mine is a farmer out west. I visited him recently and he now has a plant growing as a crop for his sheep to eat. It's called "Lab lab" and I forgot to grab some seeds on the way out... I'll get some next time. Apparently it's a kind of bean, and I think it's ok to eat, if I remember my friend's comments about it. I thought a few people here might like some. I'll remember next time (could be a few months!)

Sage hasn't grown well for me. It did ok for a few weeks when I bought a seedling from Bunnings, but that was it.  Cress grows easily for me in a seedling tray. Just dirt, a sprinkle of seeds, a sprinkle of some more dirt, and keep it moist and in a shady place. No troubles. I've never had a "crop" go wrong.

Glad to hear you have chilli :) The original seed came from a workmate in a rental house where she inherited plants. I just love that continuation of sharing....

If you can grow Sage well, let me know the secret! Every one of mine die off including the White Sage which was supposed to be longer lived. Same with Cress - can't keep it alive. Never tried growing mustard....that's an interesting one.

My raspberry does well in west sunlight (front yard) with rich soil. The ones out the back did not do well.
