Chicken sexing is a major speciality. A career in fact. As you'd expect.

In contrast, I can sex goldfish. Not much call for that, though.
Yeah Andrew that can happen, but I vent sexed them all and put a dob of pink nailpolish on heads of suspected males and checked them the next day before butchering the smallest ones. The males have a sort of lump as well. I hadnt really looked into feather sexing. Have 85 eggs ready to go into incubator going to get two more days and hopefully set 115 on tuesday night. I need more as there are none left in the freezer.
Thanks Doug. Even vent sexing goes wrong occasionally. If a female has been recently mounted, she'll expel foam.
Didn't know there were so many different types/colours of Japanese quails. Thanks for posting.
