It is great to have the bigger block but at the moment we have lots of weeds too. The bees that we got from Carl are quite placid, no stings last time we went into them, good suits are essential. The first time when they got stung it was afterwards when they took the suits off, a couple of the bees had followed them to where they took the suits off. They are an interesting addition to the garden and need all the help they can get at the moment.
I am so jealous, wish I had a larger block .... but not convinced about bees anymore, think I'll stick to native bees (the stingless ones!).
We have put hive beetle traps into the hive, did you use them with your hive, we have noticed a few hive beetles in there but from what we have been told they are in all hives but the traps can be an effective way of controlling them.
Good luck with your bees, we recently lost ours to the hive beetle which is very prevelent at the moment.
