Growing local

How lovely - Just found this site and have been browsing - not sure what I'm adding here but didn't want to leave without saying hello and maybe adding a photo..not sure what of as yet. I love growing things...anything...and love cooking. Have been an advocate of organic growing since the 70's when, most organic growers were 'hippies.' Used to buy Earth Garden and learnt much from there. Have always been interested in healthy eating as well and at one stage had a small health shop in the country. Took an interest in vegetarian and even vegan lifestyles some years ago, and though we don't live totally that way I do find it a good way to clean out and have cut out meat considerably along with eating raw on a daily basis. We juice regularly and go through many carrots...my favourite being carrot, celery and ginger. Probably enough chatting for now. I am looking forward to learning from everyone and hopefully contributing as well.

I subscribe to Grass Roots which I love and get a couple of others when I see them in the shops and need something to read, don't think I have seen Earth Gardens though - is it still around?

It would be great to see you at a Garden Visit - will have to work on the members on the north side to have one!

Thank you Christopher, yes it is nice to have trees. We have 1 1/2 acres but with the plans that we have it's not really enough...never satisfied eh!

Thank you for your welcome Vanessa and the invite. Yes, it is a bit far for the garden visits, though if one comes up on the north side of Brissie, OR we have time and want a day out, then we will make the visit. Saying that, November 7th has 3 happenings already marked in on my calender...I think it's that time of the year!!!

Sorry just saw you're on the Sunshine Coast so might be a bit far to travel for garden visits : ) Feel free to post questions on the site anyhow.

Hi Faye, welcome to the site. Sounds like you will fit in well here! Your garden looks beautiful. Happy browsing and feel free to attend a garden visit - next one on 7th November where we all meet to check out someone's garden and have a chat about gardening problems and ideas. Seed exchange is also a part of the garden visits.
