Everything is flowering and the Bees are gathering Nectar. The Mango is heavily laden with flower, The Brazilian Cherry has just finished and is now setting its fruitThe Mulberry has grown new leaves and is covered with flowers ( immature fruit ) and the Macadamia is going to look like it's covered in snow.My Washington Navel supplied a large crop last Summer, and then flowed and set half a dozen fruit, and now the tree has been flowering again and we are in for a bumper crop, that'll be two in one year.Even one of Rob's beetles is helping with the pollinationThe Cranberry Hibiscus is starting to flower again after a rest in Winter, and the Dandelions and Nasturtiums. The Flowering I am most excited about is the " Jackfruit " I've finally got one set. Her's the flowering stork taken in June.Today's image of the young fruitI wonder if it will grow as big as this one grown in IndiaThe Acerola Cherry is putting out new growth so I can assume it will be flowering too.

The Snow peas are still growing even though the strong winds have pushed them sideways. I had to cut off all old leaves to keep the powdery mildew in checkHope all you Bee hive owners are getting lots of honey.

A bit of family history is good to talk about. 

My Granddad also grew great veg - for Grandmas corner shop.

No such luck Phil. My mother divorced my father when I was 4 or 5, and dad's family was strictly " OUT! of BOUNDS! "        I was conscripted into a " Cold War " and liaising with the enemy brought severe consequences. But I do have a couple of lovely memories of my Granddad. My first Christian name is actually " Albert " after granddad, and I treasure that.

They grew good food in those days and took pride in their sizeable produce.  Many of them carried their produce a long way to shows etc.  You are lucky to have good memories of your grandfather.  The children often helped out on the farms as well, and were often kept home from school to help out.  Thanks for sharing the photo's.

Christa :- the Orange Sapote is not a Persimmon, but also has orange pulp and is sweet, but not juicy. I think the Persimmon originated in China. My Grandfather who I was lucky to spend some time with when I was 4years old, so maybe some of his expertise transferred onto me  lol, anyway -- yes he was known for his large vegies as this image of my father and his brother and sister shows. and this on of Turnips.

I have a chocolate pudding tree but think it is still too young to produce fruit - do I need to have 2 trees or will they produce with only 1?

Sapote apparently means "soft edible fruit" and there are a lot of plants that bear the common name. 

I am very fond of Persimmon.  Didn't really like the Black or Chocolate Pudding Sapote I have eaten on a couple of occasions. Like the Canistel or Yellow Sapote ok but probably wouldn't devote space to a tree in any future garden.

I'd like to try this White Sapote (member of the family Rutaceae to which citrus belong) that James talks about.

Then there is the Star Apple which is also supposed to be good eating. Think I may have eaten one once but can't remember the flavour.
