Hasn't this rain been wonderful. It has made a tremendous difference to our place. Where all the Grass had died we now have Green & everything else has come back from being drought stressed. My Figs are so happy we even have babies on one tree for the first time.
I have been very quiet on the Blog front, almost 2 years quiet, due to not wanting and not being allowed (OT Rules) in the Veg Patch until my garden path had been replaced (due to bulging tree roots), and I have been…

Would there be any of our members who are Grafting, Air-layering, Marcotting, Pegging Enthusiast (with good sound knowledge) - Available for talks at our Garden Visits.
If not a member with knowledge perhaps you know someone who does or has worked in the industry and who would be willing to come along to one of our Garden Visits. They will be well remunerated with a Good Spread for Morning Tea.

It has been a very busy time here since you were all at the GV Last year. We have transformed our Front Gardens into Food and Fruit Gardens. My love of Citrus stands out and since being introduced to so many Sub Tropical Fruits both from Members and our Visit to Daley's last year, you will find our Front Garden now very edible.

Well Summer is here. We have felt the brunt of the first storms for the Season, some of us left with a mess to clean up and others with some lovely rain added to their tanks. As we feel the extremes of Summer so do our Flowers, Vegetables, Herbs, Plants and Trees. Whilst some are very good at coping with the stresses of Summer others need help. So it's time to think about how we can help our plants along.
Mulching is important, as is keeping the water up. There are many forms of…

It has been a while between Blogs for me, so thought I would start this off as an ongoing diary for myself over the Spring/Summer Season of 2016.
It has been a big year for us in Ellen Grove and to be honest I couldn’t have done the hard yakka without Husband Graham and Member Darren. The Garden has undergone a lot of work and rearrangements due to the addition of a new Work Shed for Graham.…

It is time to start planting those Spring/Summer Salad Greens if you haven't started already. Hopefully we will find something new for you to Plant. There are so many possibilities for turning that Salad into something Special. I thought it would be a nice idea to have Members list a Favourite Green or Other Salad Additive. We could also put our Favourite Spring/Summer Recipes…

Best wishes to Michael Hoff for his New Knee Operation and a Speedy Recovery and hoping everything goes well.
We will miss you at the GV's. But just think come October when we see you next we may not be able to keep up with you. I am sure you will be pampered by all those nurses whilst in hospital and rehab. Take lots of Gardening Mags along with you. All the Best.

Wouldn't it be great if all our Brisbane Local Food Members had their own AVATAR and it can be put on via their "MY PAGE". This could be a photo of a Favourite Pet, Fruit, Flower, Herb, Vegetable, Person, Car etc. etc., Your Occupation, Business or something else of interest to you. The Avatar would be seen in place of the picture with the Green Peas Leaves, a way of saying this is ME.
I would like to put out a…

I often think about Disabled Gardeners. What is the definition of disabled? Maybe you have Arthritis or Doggy Hips, walk with a cane, the Knees are not as young as your mind is. What ever the disability how do you manage to get things done? To turn the soil over and plant the seedlings then to produce such wonderful produce.
Do you have special Tools you use in the Garden? Any Hints and Tips for us. If you do I am sure we have members who would like to hear about them.

I thought it might be helpful to see what everyone is Planting, Harvesting and Preparing for in the garden now. Perhaps this would be helpful to those of us who would like to plant something a bit different to our normal fare. We have a few member who always have some out of left field ideas that we have picked up with gusto, and we are now finding ourselves eating many new & interesting foods.
Is anyone preparing beds etc. for the next Seasons Produce & what type of…
