Look what I adopted on the weekend :)

I adopted these two adorable little creatures on the weekend.  We had an old hutch so dusted it off and it was ready to go.  We have also made a small (crow proof) pen that we are going to put them in during the day so they can he keep the grass down a little in our orchard, our plan is to move it around daily, hopefully it may cut down on a little of the mowing.

New Lavender Soap

I made another batch of soap last night, lavender, using lavender essential oil and organic lavender flowers, smells divine, the hardest part now is to wait the month for it to dry before it can be used. I have started a blog so there are more photos on there…

Here is a dish of tomatoes I picked yesterday, I haven't grown this variety before but had heard it was the best for the Brisbane climate, great not stung by fruit fly, nice size, I will definitely be growing the Tommy Toe's again.  I also tidied up all my herb pots, new potting mix and a couple replaced.  I am very happy with the days effort:)… Continue

Bees Wax Candle Making

Discovered another interesting pass time last night, since acquiring our bee hive I decided to give making bees wax candles ago after also reading about all the bad toxins paraffin wax candles release into the air as we burn them.  To be honest I hadn't really thought about it and enjoyed burning scented candles believing that they were scented with essential oils.  So I made… Continue

Slowly Taking Back Control

Well after all the rain and the vegie garden being full of weeds, today we spent the whole day getting it back under control ready for mulching and replanting.  I have ordered bales of sugar cane to cover the bare ground as I think there will be quite a few weed seeds in there.  We saw heaps of worms in it today.  A satisfying days work.… Continue

Soapmaking is Addictive

Here's some more of the soaps I have made, I am so pleased with them I don't think I will be buying soap anymore, instead I will be making my own, knowing what it is in it and adding essential oils to get the scent that I like.  From the back, goats milk and oatmeal, calendula, Honey with organic cocoa stripe and organic cocoa swirls.… Continue

New Passion

A while ago I dabbled into the art of soap making with a few of the girls from on Brisbane Local Food, yesterday I made a batch of goats milk, ground oatmeal and green clay CP soap.  I am so happy with the results, just having to wait the four weeks now before it can be used is the frustrating part.… Continue

Tired of the Rain

Well after watching the rain for how many weeks now and pretty much everything being dead in the vegie patch except for weeds of course.  Today I sat out under the verandah, filled some jiffy pots with seed raising mix and planted a whole lot of seeds so hopefully when the rain eventually stops I will be all ready to go.

Checked one of the worm farms and added some more food, not much else that can be done on these rainy days.
