I haven't been able to attend recent garden visits either due to work or clashing with something else, but I still love growing edibles. The recent rain was wonderful - currently we are picking jaboticabas, yellow strawberry guava (tiny edible pips); acerola cherry, rosellas (we love them stewed), passionfruits, the odd dragon fruit, vatious sapotes plus some scant vegies - pumpkin; cherry tomatoes, gourds, cucumber, snake beans and kale. With a day off work, it was a chance to harvest and cook some of our own produce. Lunch started with pumpkin soup, followed by sweet potato, tatsoi and spring onion frittata, served with cassava chips and salad (tomato, cucumber, capsicum, leafy greens). Then to finish - platter of yellow dragon fruit, passionfruit, raspberries and carombola. It was such a good feeling to be self sufficient even if only for lunch! Similar again for dinner sounds good.
We've already picked heaps and still lots left. I read it freezes well and makes good jam/jelly or juice. Its in an area that does not get a lot of love, yet survived the dry summer!
