Wow. What an absolute success! On Sunday 11 September Logan Food Gardeners has its first get together. We had 23 adults plus kids for morning tea, chat and a wander around the garden. This was an absolutely fantastic turnout, considering the online group has only been going for just over 1 month. Already though the group has 72 members and is growing every day.
I have had heaps of really positive feed back about the visit on Sunday and the Logan Food Gardeners online site. It is…Continue
I was so inspired after our get together at Joanne Chungs place on Sunday, I got hubby to mind the kids and I ventured into the garden. I extended the fence around the garden to incorporate a much bigger area and then I made a new garden bed.
The first garden bed is on the right and the new one is on the left. I have started filling it with dirt from the floor of my…Continue
My new vegie garden is AMAZING! All the rain and the awesomely furtile soil has allowed the seeds and plants to grow like triffods (but without the funny sound and thankfully they don't leave the garden to kill people).
My corn and amaranth is chest high - oh and the amaranth tastes good (a bit like silverbeet but better). The NZ spinach I got from the West End community garden is flourishing and huge! My lettuce, rocket, tatsoi and bok choi are all growing so well. I have 4…Continue
I made a neat thing for my chook run to allow us to feed the chooks without having to open a door.
I made a box shaped cage out of wire about 30cm x 30cm x 30cm with one open side. I…Continue
Chooks in a temporary chook tractor over where the new vegie garden was going to be.
I have now put up the temporary fence to keep the chooks (and 2 year old) out and sewn some seeds. Yay!!!!…Continue
I know this is nothing to do with gardening, but would like you to know that I am an artist and can create gorgeous pet and horse portraits. Any animal large or small. All I need is a good photo to work from.
I only charge $100 for A3 sized chalk pastel portraits like the ones below.…
After some recent landscaping I have a new terrace in my back yard that I am going to turn into my new vegie garden. I have set up a temp chook run "chook tractor" over part of the planned veg garden. I have covered the whole lot with bird netting (the type used for fruit trees), to keep the pesky crows out.
I have added heaps of compost, horse manure and am constantly adding more prunings etc. The chooks are…Continue
WARNING!! Don't EVER taste a raw olive!!!! They are the most disgustingly bitter thing ever and they take the lining off the inside of your mouth (well so my husband says).
We picked about 2kg of olives from a "neighbourhood" tree in the weekend. I have started the curing process as per Olive Australia's "favourite" method.…Continue
