With the persistence of the dry weather I thought I'd share with you the latest version of my clay pot irrigation system. I've been experimenting with the setup for a few years and this rig works to my satisfaction and prevails against, weather, pet dogs, bush turkeys, cane toads and crows.
THE POT
Get yourself a un-glazed terracotta clay pot at…

While I'm staying at Armstrong Creek for this extended period of house sitting it has given me the opportunity to explore the region when I have the time at weekends. This weekend my sister was staying over and I wanted to go check out the Phoenix Sculpture Gardens at Mt Glorious run by Graham and Margit Radcliffe.
Graham is an incredibly talented sculptor and also a painter. They have a property at the top of Mt Glorious…

Contrary to my expectations I still can harvest comestibles outback.
Looking about, I'm soon set to drown in tomatoes which have occupied my patch like weeds.
The greens survive the heat and lack of moisture while the spuds begin to flag their readiness by consecutively dying back above ground.Beans and peas are a waste of energy but the squashes have…

I guess, if you had of told me what I could produce, 10 years ago when I started slowly getting into gardening, and how much my garden…

I know! I'll duck out and get some greens from the garden .... and that was how the fritzing started!
Thinking about it, I also had some spinach wraps I wanted to use. I'll just replace the burrito wraps from the kit with them. Oh, damn. My Saudi students cooked last night.…
