Cheap and easy way to make yogurt

I've been making my own yogurt for years and have developed my technique with easy DIY in mind.Home made yogurt is so much cheaper than store bought stuff as all you need is milk and a little starter (left over from a previous batch).

EQUIPMENT:

  • Cooking thermometer: make sure you use one with a long stem and easy to read (very large) numbers.
  • Rice cooker with a glass lid: if you don't have one of these, get a…

ZUCCHINI BITES RECIPES

This is the recipe for the Zucchini Bites that I took along to the GV at Lissa'a today. I usually double the recipe and freeze. They are fine to heat up in the microwave for a quick Breakfast or Lunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 slices rindless bacon, finely sliced
  • 1 large carrot, grated

Nope - still room for more fruit trees.

Hi everyone.  Well the holidays have been lovely - hot, but lovely.  I'm back at work today but am determined to keep my garden going in this hot weather.  While on holidays, I have been researching fruit trees and found some more I just had to try.  I picked up a jiro persimmon (with fruit on it - yay) and a 1.3 m high grumichama (yay again as they are supposed to be slow growing and hopefully mine is old enough to produce fruit.…

There goes my gardening time...

Those who have been to visit my garden will know how much I've been enjoying having the time to garden since winding down my business so I can work from home. Well, no more, or not for a while anyway.

I have put my hand up as the Labor candidate in Aspley for the coming state election. It is supposedly a very safe seat for the LNP.

The thought of how much irreversable damage that three more years of letting mining interests rule would do to the environment in…

Fresh Local Provisions: Fresh Food, Local and Online

About this site

Welcome to Brisbane Local Food (BLF)!

This site was created by Scarlett Patrick, to build capacity in the Brisbane  community for growing, buying, and living sustainably. Six years on, BLF is an important hub to promote, discuss, share and learn about local food growing, production, gardens, services and activities happening in our part of the world.

This site exists for you - make the most if it!

BLF is motivated by passion, not profit. We thank all volunteers and members who make this an active and inspiring space to be, as well as those individuals, organisations and groups working to make the future greener.

What is local?
The closer the better - but regional and global activities are important too.

Why local?
To reduce food miles, increase food freshness & security, improve social outcomes and reduce the unused outputs of our living environments - like stormwater and green waste.

Brisbane is a sub-tropical city in Queensland, Australia.
