SEED & FRUIT TREE SITES, TRAINING, GROUPS, BEES AND FOOD SITES

Started by Lissa in Blogs and transferred to Groups to help us find it again and again ..."I'm a list maker."I like to gather information together in one spot so I don't have to keep hunting it down or scratch my head wondering where I read something and not being able to find it again. And I like to share, so please feel free to use this list of links or recommend more sites to be added as it's a continuous work in progress."It is up to you to decide if you wish to deal with any of the…See More

Companion Planting

Companion Planting is an age old practice of Planting Plants within close proximity which will Benefit other Plants, either by giving off a scent or chemical that will repel harmful insects. They may also be grown to entice Beneficial Insects that will help rid your plants of Nature's Nasties. Another way these plants may help is by returning goodness back to the soil. Many of these plants may also be used to make Teas to spray your plants with, or the leaves used in the Compost as an activated.See More

Pressure Cooker Cooking

I wanted to start a group for this.  Of course, I do soups, stews, rice etc in a pressure cooker.  I found so many more recipes that need to be shared.  Cheese cake!  Bone broth (expected that one).  Mac and cheese.  Mozzarella cheese! Ribs - I've done that a few times now - class recipe. Yoghurt, creme brulee, potato salad...  it's a nice piece of equipment. See More

Bees - native and honey

Until I sold my home and garden recently, I owned two native bee hives of Tetragonula carbonaria and a top bar honey bee hive. While I'm am so far from expert at bee keeping it's not funny I do love to learn more about bees and the benefits they provide us.When I was a child at primary school we had our own honey-bee hive and the local bee keeper would come by regularly and we would all gather around while he showed us how to look after them and gather the honey. We have members on BLF who are…See More

Good Morning Lorraine, Welcome to Brisbane Local Foods (BLF). Here at the top of the page, you will find many GROUPS to join. One is the GARDEN VISITS, 2016 GARDEN VISITS CALENDAR here. I am sure you would enjoy visiting our member’s gardens. We have members who grow many different kinds of Gardens, Permaculture, Aquaculture, Wicking Beds, Traditional and many more. The GV's are usually held once a month. At the GV's we share cuttings, plants, produce, seeds, knowledge as well as a good chat and a lovely Homemade Morning Teas.

We have many subjects of interest, if you have any questions I am sure we would have a member or site available to answer that question.

You may like to go into your page and change the Pea Leaf Avatar for one of your own, it makes it a little more personal and as soon as we see your own Avatar we know who it is. Please enjoy BLF.
