Profile Information

About me:
I guess my passion for plants came from my Nana. I always remember playing in her garden as a child - dazzling colours tumbling from the mixed shrubbery, picking strawberries, and the gorgeous wisteria with its deep purple icicles dripping over the front gate. When we were kids, she used to drive us around in her little Corolla and we'd have a competition to see who could yell out the names of the plants correctly. But as I got older, study, work, kids, house moves and all the boring minutiae of adulthood got in the way of any gardening aspirations I might have had. But I still dreamed of establishing a garden just like my Nana's. And now I am here. About a year ago, amidst the aftershock of massive house renovations, I made a start - clearing out weeds, planting trees and establishing a small potager with lemons, limes and figs, pineapples, herbs in pots and some small vegetable beds. Now that the dust has settled (literally!) I am finally ready to launch my dream garden into reality. I still definitely have my 'learner' plates on, but as my Nana would say, there's no such thing as failure in a garden - only experiments!
I am interested in:
Bees
Cooking - jams, preserves, bottling
Local history and traditional Queensland gardens
What I am looking for:
Information, Events
Location
Brisbane Inner City

Good Morning Katina, Welcome to Brisbane Local Foods (BLF).

Here at the top of the page, you will find many GROUPS to join. One of these is the GARDEN VISITS, 2019 GARDEN VISITS CALENDAR. I am sure you would enjoy visiting our member’s gardens. We have members who grow many different kinds of Gardens, Permaculture, Aquaculture, Wicking Beds, Traditional and many more. The GV's are usually held once a month. At the GV's we share cuttings, plants, produce, seeds, knowledge as well as a good chat and a lovely Homemade Morning Teas.

We have many subjects of interest, if you have any questions I am sure we would have a member or site available to answer that question. If you feel you are particularly adept in a field you may like to add a new Group to our List or perhaps do a talk or demonstration at one of our GV. If a yes for the GV you might like to friend me and we can see what we can do. We are always looking for new ideas.

You may like to go into your page and change the Pea Leaf Avatar for one of your own, it makes it a little more personal and as soon as we see your own Avatar we know who it is. Please enjoy BLF…..
