I basically grew up on an Organic/Bio-Dynamic Market Garden in the Yarra Valley, Victoria.
I’ve experienced an enduring attachment to the soil and always enjoyed gardening in all its pursuits.
Of late I find myself in a long term rental home and I’m developing a container (in pots, grow bags, wicking pots, etc) garden. There is a significant emphasis on Bush Tucker Trees/Plants mixed with a splash of ornamentals.
My next phase is a fairly extensive containerised vegetable garden using wicking pot methods.
I am currently involved with the following community gardens and groups:
Logan Food Gardeners
Rain Gutter Grow System
I am interested in:
Containerised Gardens- From the perspective of living in a rental property.
Organics- Natural healthy gardening methods that respect and promote the microbial life that is absolutely essential to healthy living soil.
Bio-char and building a Biochar kiln etc. I’m looking forward to learning more about this new (read: re-discovered ancient Aztec technology) resource and how it can greatly benefit our soils, etc.
Aquaponics: Ultimately, I dream a little of having a full blown Aquaponics setup and maybe even establishing a retirement funding income stream.
I can offer (you can't offer too much or too little - we don't mind)
Information, Products and/or Services, Training and Consultancy, Plants and Produce, Garden Materials, Community Involvement, Gardening Help

We have a number of members who grow in a range of containers, above ground beds, wicking beds, etc. So the information sharing can be quite useful. I recommend that you attend some of the garden visits, as these can range from quite smallish backyard setups to much larger gardens.
Good Evening Andrew, It sounds like you would fit in very well in our group, welcome to Brisbane Local Foods (BLF).
Here at the top of the page, you will find many GROUPS to join. One of these is the GARDEN VISITS, 2019 GARDEN VISITS CALENDAR. I am sure you would enjoy visiting our member’s gardens. We have members who grow many different kinds of Gardens, Permaculture, Aquaculture, Wicking Beds, Traditional and many more. The GV's are usually held once a month. At the GV's we share cuttings, plants, produce, seeds, knowledge as well as a good chat and a lovely Homemade Morning Teas.
We have many subjects of interest, if you have any questions I am sure we would have a member or site available to answer that question. If you feel you are particularly adept in a field you may like to add a new Group to our List or perhaps do a talk or demonstration at one of our GV. If a yes for the GV you might like to friend me and we can see what we can do. We are always looking for new ideas.
You may like to go into your page and change the Pea Leaf Avatar for one of your own, it makes it a little more personal and as soon as we see your own Avatar we know who it is. Please enjoy BLF…..
