Growing local

Back in the day it wasn't unusual to rent digs in inner city Melbourne, only to find the small backyard was covered in tomato bushes.
'Twas the ever present gardening thumb of previous residents of Greek or Italian descent.
A whole yard!
But you can never ever have too many tomatoes.
Since I am not of the sliced tomato persuasion, I can indulge my passion for the so-very-sweet wee ones which grow like weeds here in SEQ.
Tommy Toes and the grapes...hanging off the vine like Christmas tree ornaments.
Cook up great; freeze them; dry them; squish 'em in salsa...Brings out my inner Aztec.

I'm growing  these toms up my ladder trellises -- so harvesting is like browsing among supermarket shelves. They are all 2 metres tall before they I allow them to tendril horizontally.

Much as I planned to grow some  from seed in the nursery, they self seed so keenly in my beds that I simply move a ladder into place for the plants to grow up.

I just twine them to the 'rungs' as they climb.

I also just made another chili ferment based on, but adapted from,  this recipe (LINK). I used hardly any extra fluid as is my usual chili paste approach.

What I gotta do is establish some sort of chipotle supply line as I do love chipotle peppers-- which are usually smoked dried jalapeño. Here I used some of the powder.

Chipotle tastes great and is mild.

I need to have the chili salsa made up because the rest of the fam are so intolerant of the hot stuff.

But life is too short and can be pretty straight without chili....

I think the best part is they seem to be not so targeted for getting stung, the globe variety is a favourite of mine halfway between the tiny tom and standard toms.
