Growing local

Stephanotis and Petrea volubilis on the fence, rosemary, cosmos, and plumbago make a very low maintenance insect attractor (and vase stuffer) background for the vegie garden - the blues and greys look really good with the brassicas

Rooster Booster rocks!

two tricks: dig a hole into the crap old soil then build a bed up with really good compost and hay - this way the plants have massive access to nutrients and are sitting on an underground water reservoir.

that $500 we spent on compost and hay 2.5 years ago was sure worth it... (box of vegies costs approx $40 per week...). plus i buy the odd bag of rooster booster, manure and dolomite - at least every 6 months. we have giant fat worms in there now too (which is lucky cos the ones in the worm farm died again). also deep watering each 3-4 days (so the plants grow deep root systems and are resilient to stress). plus garden magic, yes.

Looks really good, as usual Scarlett! I still don't understand how your garden is always so bountiful, especially as the block is smaller than mine - you have magic there I am sure!
