I need a little shadehouse to try this in summer. On the wish list.
Elaine a blog post might have to wait awhile as this is the first time I've tried this method, when I snip I am trying not to cut out the growing tip so hopfully plants will keep growing, but its all so easy that it would'nt take much to add a new box every month or so, will let you know how it all goes.

Sounds like a great idea. Joseph does something similar with Asian veges. I've been trying to use the greens on the 'pick and come again' principle and have found the plants just don't last enough time to justify the garden space they take up. I guess that you just snip and eat and have other boxes coming along … how long does a box last for you? A few meals and then re-do the box? I'd love to have a blog post if you have time, explaining how it works for you.
I'm growing my Summer salad in the shadehouse, several lettuce, rocket, kale & Red Amarath, all to be picked while still small & sweet - hopefully I may ge more than one crop.

Vetiver grass helps to stabilise soil and protects it against erosion. It can protect against pests and weeds. Vetiver is also used as animal feed. (Wiki.)
GrowVetiver is a plant nursery run by Dave & Keir Riley that harvests and grows Vetiver grass for local community applications and use. It is based in Beachmere, just north of Brisbane, Australia.
