The happy rich broccoli is a goa people! Healthy plants, lots of shoots and I have successfully raised summer broccoli :). Not as sweet as winter broccoli but still worth the effort. Grown under nets of course and in wicking beds

Hi Valerie, 

It is a cross between a chinese broccoli (I think Gai Lan) which is a little bitter but gives greater heat tolerance and the calebrese type of broccoli which alleviates a little of the bitterness.  Like I said, it's not the best tasting broccoli but for growing your own over summer, well worth the effort. 

Dianne, I actually used this bunch in a broccoli salad.  More will be coming in this weekend.

Yes I don't think you can grow much without a well-secured net over it during our summer
