Growing local

Previous years, I've had them on the fence line. Problem is they are just a bit too high and getting them watered and keeping an eye out for pests was a bit challenging. So this year, I put a wood beam on top of my wire fence to the vegie patch and strung them up there. 16 pots of strawberries replanted. 13 of runners and I'm going to keep some of last years plants going in the other three to see what sort of harvest I get.

Done Elaine :)  They do work really well Lissa but with so many pots now and I'm using fresh potting mix, it is an awful lot of potting mix.  Next year, I think I'm going to try 1/2 in a mix of 50% coconut coir + 50% home made compost and the other 1/2 in potting mix and do a comparison.  If no different (or dare I hope better) in harvest, I'll swap to that.

The second-year plants produce reasonably well. Just cut back the old plants, top up the fertiliser and await developments.

Those pots along the fence work well for strawberries don't they. Julie M does well with them too.
