Well I managed to actually make something from my cucumber (the one I left out in the heat all day and it got all wrinkled). I've followed Christa's advice and turned it into what I believe is sandwich cucumber:

Komkommersla is the name of the dish. 

Cucumbers have changed a bit over time HERE is a site with a bit of dutch and english language, but it has a very old recipe for cucumber done with cloves.

Yes, Lissa it is called Dutch Cucumber Salad, a little thin slice red onion (optional), and you can dice or slice cucumber and place in bowl and add some vinegar to cover and a couple of tablespoons of sugar f you are making a lot.  Mum used to leave it overnight in the fridge. Give it a go, and see if you like it, you could change the sugar to suit your taste.

Yum, Christa, that's how I like Mine, Sugar and Vinegar. I have been enjoying my Bread and Butter Cucumbers over the past few days, left over from last years bottling..

Lissa, I am sure you would enjoy yours with a little Sugar and Vinegar too, pleased you were able to save it after the heat of the day.

A beauty :)

I left a good sized Lebanese cuc out for a day on the side of the garden bed by mistake. Poor thing was looking a bit desiccated after a day in our current heat. I partially succeeded in reinvigorating it by standing it in a jug of water. Might try Christa's vinegar and sugar?? Have I got that right. Not oil and vinegar??

What a whopper, you should be happy with that one.  We used to chop them up in a dish and serve them with a little oil and sugar and let them soften a bit, yum!
