Growing local

I am not a sweet , nor a big fruit, eater -- but I do like Dragon Fruit.
It grows in my place like a weed -- as befits its succulent habits.
Here is my dessert for this evening: Dragon Fruit with a couple of dollops of Weiss Mango Sorbet.
My taste buds delight in the texture and zing.
Not too sweet. Just right.
I'm satiated as I write...
Lop of a stem and shove it in the ground and there you go: still more dragons -- like the Sorcerer's Apprentice chopping up brooms.
And my Prickly Pear is beginning to fruit too.

Prickly Pear fruit makes seriously delicious jam; so much pectin it just about rolls up after the knife. Not tried it fresh though.

Very late fruit! Or very early ;-) Dragon Fruit are an in-house favourite. Just expanded from 2 plants to 6 then to 8. Wait 2 years for fruit ...
