Growing local

Making use of Council's land to create a place for people to sit and another food garden. I'll put some pretty flowers in front of it and some herbs etc beside it. I'm going to plant my macadamia tree Just to the right of the area that's mulched so people get some shade (and nuts).

Yep - I'm a law breaker Christa.  I talked to the neighbours to make sure they were happy with the idea first.

Andy, Is that lovely seat on the verge or beside your driveway?  I had a sinilar thought a year or so ago and was told that we cannot place a seat on council land.  It seems a silly negative rule to me.  It would be nice to sit and chat to neighbours or anyone who needs to sit down for a rest. I was told to put it just inside the boundary.  Just like you, Ian has made a lovely seat for the front yard.

I like the idea of meeting some locals.

I think seats are a really good idea - both in the garden and on the verge.

It surprises me when people say they don't want people "hanging around" in front of their houses.
