Growing local

with 24 plants in each block , 2weeks between the 1st and 2nd and 3weeks between 2nd & 3rd there will be a continual supply . a faimly of 4 adults eating corn 2 times per week consume 12 cobs in 3 weeks . with only 1-2 cobs per plant there would be little chance of a glut , we give Karens faimly a share (3 adults ) . thease plants are showing strong side shootsbut i still would only expect 2 cobs .

Chris, your plants are huge! Did you get the seedlings from Caboolture? Do you know the name of the corn?

this bed has been heavily manured in the past , but this year it recieved , 1 shovel of organic extra per sq mtr , a application of trace elements ( the 1st time on this bed ) i had also had made some very crude charcoal when i removed all the old stumps ,logs etc that where under the carambola , and a large portion of that ( probably 6-8 shovels ) remained there . the spacing is 25cm or so maybe ithink ?? .

most i've ever had is two - three plus two little stir fry cobs. don't know what variety it was - eden seeds. these look great - you plant them close together, how much manure did you put in before hand?
