I am determined to bottle this delightful goodness. I aim to have:
-12 jars of mulberries in syrup
- 4 jars of jam
- 4 kg in freezer

I nearly smacked my daughter this arvo. These were sitting on the bench and she went to open one even though the tree is LADEN outside (too lazy to walk out to get fresh ones)

My poor little tree out in the building site is doing its best to give me a few fruit.

I just netted my tree. The local birds were making a daily meal of it. Watering it did make a difference. Dehydrator ready to go...well if they make it to the dehydrator that is.

I think my tiny Mulberry has finished fruiting already this season - I thought I had killed it last year so I stopped watering it also after a while so it didn't get much, but the few berries we got were nice!

I picked these jars up for $1 each at a bric a brac store on bribie island. I am hoping to find more of the smaller ones (I have quite a few of the larger ones courtesy of my mother and her op shop habit) as I think they are the perfect size for canned stuff.  Valerie, I wouldn’t pay the big bucks to buy them brand new as they are always around if you keep your eyes open.  The canned peaches from last year were such a success with my kids that I want to bottle as much of my own fruit as possible this year.   Nothing added to thicken it Christa, will just use it as mulberries in syrup   I do make mulberry pie with mulberries, sugar and custard powder that sets to nice firm pie filling and i’m Sure I could just thicken one of the jars in the same way. 

The rubber rings, clips and lids I’ve bought brand new from the fowlers backlash online store but I think mitre 10 also stocks.  Lids are reusable but they say you shouldn’t reuse rubber rings. I have and so far no dramas. 

Dont know now why you all don’t have mulberries yet.  Very curious. I have found a good tip though. Last year, I didn’t water them in the big dry and the berries were quite small.  This year, for the last month, I’ve been giving them a nice big soak of water and all the berries are quite large and fat.

Not quite mulberry season here -- not yet anyway -- despite having 5 bushes. I've only eaten 5 fruits and three of those were from a cutting in a pot.

This year my whit mulberries are beginning to fruit: you can use the harvest as tea, dried fruit or as a wrapping dolmade leaf.

Less sugar quotient than the black. Silk worm preferred.

It also has a nutritional benefits that transcend the black's culinary popularity.

I also planted white mulberries at the school garden -- rather than black -- in order to keep the kids clothes unstained.

For those into sweet things, the traditional Arab beverage made from the black fruit -- Sharab El Toot -- is a mulberry cordial. Goes well with gin too, I understand.

Good use for mulberries, Susan.  Have you used a thickener with them, I think my mother in law used agar agar to thicken the mulberries for stewed mulberries and served with creamed rice. It kept the syrup clear and it was yummy. You could also use arrowroot powder to thicken and prevent cloudiness.

It's a while since I've seen vacola jars.  There are a few boxes of them under the house and I thought I would use them again one day. Do you know if you can still buy stainless steel covers?

I love the canning jars. Where did you get these from? I plan on dehydrating some of ours, but I love your ideas!

You have certainly had a good crop with more to come. Your preserves look wonderful I can imagine the Mulberries in Syrup over beautiful Vanilla Ice Cream..YUM!!!
