Garden Visits

Follow the calendar link below to check out where the group is visiting throughout the year or to choose a date for your own GV:

We're always looking for new gardens to visit. Don't be shy, it's easy and no one expects "perfection" (whatever that is) they just want somewhere to meet up and chat!

Please take a few moments to follow the link above and read the simple instructions in full.

Then contact Dianne with the information needed so I organise an Event Listing for your visit.

It's amazing what we can learn by visiting other peoples gardens. I know I pick up at least one good idea or plant each time.

You might be surprised at how keen other members are to visit your garden and see what you are growing, how your chooks / quails are kept, share their own excess produce, cuttings, seed and generally just have a good old chat with other like minded people.

Be brave!

The visits are informal and free. Choose to come to as many or few as you wish.

Dianne's mobile number 0407 691 485 for emergencies.

Anyone is welcome to post and organise their own Events of any kind - in fact it is encouraged.

If you choose to do this please put your own name down as organiser, not mine. It can be very confusing for everyone if my name is on it and I know nothing about the Event.

Responsibility for running the event is up to the organiser.

Thank you

Feel free to choose dates later in the year. Don't feel obliged to fill up the early months first.

We could have some months with no visits, some months with two options if that's what suits people - really doesn't matter.! 11 members! ;)

Love to join this group. Fallen by the wayside recently and need to get on track with my garden. Could do something 2nd week in January at my place. Just the incentive I need .Let me know so that I can start weeding !!

Once I can get through Christmas day, I'm up to host a demo day as well.  Garden, distilling and cheese making.

We're up for March - just a note that our garden is not fenced so it's not child or dog friendly. We're at Deception Bay; either Saturday or Sunday, not fixed yet so 9th or 10th March tentatively, a fortnight before Easter.

About this site

Welcome to Brisbane Local Food (BLF)!

This site was created by Scarlett Patrick, to build capacity in the Brisbane  community for growing, buying, and living sustainably. Six years on, BLF is an important hub to promote, discuss, share and learn about local food growing, production, gardens, services and activities happening in our part of the world.

This site exists for you - make the most if it!

BLF is motivated by passion, not profit. We thank all volunteers and members who make this an active and inspiring space to be, as well as those individuals, organisations and groups working to make the future greener.

What is local?
The closer the better - but regional and global activities are important too.

Why local?
To reduce food miles, increase food freshness & security, improve social outcomes and reduce the unused outputs of our living environments - like stormwater and green waste.

Brisbane is a sub-tropical city in Queensland, Australia.
